Early Reading
Early Reading is a really important part of your child's development and this is reflected in our learning environment which is vocabulary rich and our class libraries ensure that children have a wide variety of culturally diverse texts to choose from.
In case you're wondering what Early Reading is, think of it like this:
'the development of skills children need in order to transition from learning to read, to reading to learn.
These skills include vocabulary, phonics and language'
To explain this even further, take a look at the video below with Mr Dickerson, our Reception Teacher, to find out more about the Phonics scheme we use at Holy Family (Little Wandle) and explore some of the key things you need to know to support your child on their Early Reading journey.

If you would like any further advice on how to support your child with their phonics and early reading then please speak to your child's class teacher either at the end of the day once your child's class is dismissed or arrange to speak to them by contacting the school office:

'One of the greatest gifts an adult can give is to read to children'
Watching your child embark on their Early Reading journey is a truly exciting and memorable experience
We encourage all of our parents to frequently listen to children read but also did you know children can benefit hugely from having a book read to them?
